Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT for social anxiety works on the prediction made before a room and the verdict reached afterwards. Both err in the same direction, and CBT tests each against what actually happened.

Olympic Behavioral Health's social anxiety treatment center occupies 3618 Lantana Road in Lantana, Florida, 12 miles south of West Palm Beach, and serves Palm Beach County.
Social anxiety disorder is a fear of judgment that changes what a person does, once called social phobia.
Our JCAHO-accredited, DCF-licensed social anxiety counseling uses cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure work on anticipatory anxiety, for adults aged 18 to 65 at PHP, IOP and OP. A therapist for social anxiety holds the plan with on-site psychiatry, and the first appointment comes before any group.

Where the Line Sits
Shyness is a temperament with a low price. Social anxiety disorder changes what a person stops doing, and Olympic Behavioral Health offers three outpatient levels of social anxiety treatment in Lantana, counting anticipatory anxiety as part of the diagnosis rather than as a separate complaint.
Olympic Behavioral Health uses the clinical name social anxiety disorder, still recorded as social phobia in older notes. The dividing line from shyness is cost: jobs not applied for, calls not made, rooms left early.
Severe social anxiety narrows a life quietly, because every avoided thing feels like a reasonable decision at the time. Among US adults with social anxiety disorder in a given year, 29.9 percent are seriously impaired by it on the same National Institute of Mental Health figures. The pattern only becomes visible once the list of avoided things is long enough to read as a list.
Social anxiety sits inside the wider anxiety treatment program, alongside generalized anxiety and panic.
Every one of these works, and that is exactly the problem. Clinicians call them safety behaviors, and the relief they give is what stops the fear ever being disproved. Pick one you recognize.

Nothing here is scored and nothing here is a diagnosis. Safety behaviors are a recognized clinical category rather than a character flaw, and treatment works on them gradually rather than asking anyone to drop them cold.
When to Get Help
The symptoms of social anxiety that matter clinically are the ones changing your decisions. Olympic Behavioral Health admits adults aged 18 to 65 after a phone assessment. First contact can be made through the form on this page.
Blushing, shaking and a voice that will not stay level are the visible part of social phobia. The rumination afterwards runs for days. An estimated 7.1 percent of adults in the United States had social anxiety disorder in the past year, on National Institute of Mental Health figures collected between 2001 and 2003. Olympic Behavioral Health takes social anxiety enquiries from adults who:

Olympic Behavioral Health replies by whichever method you ask for, and everything up to the clinical assessment for social anxiety can be done in writing.
What to Expect
A room of people is both the thing you are afraid of and the thing that treats it, and there is no honest way around that in social anxiety disorder treatment. Olympic Behavioral Health builds up to the room rather than starting there.
Olympic Behavioral Health runs social anxiety group therapy because being observed and surviving it is the correction. Every level carries weekly individual therapy of 50 minutes to 1 hour, and the primary therapist assigned at admission plans the first group with you beforehand.
Levels of Care
Group size and frequency are what change between levels of social anxiety disorder treatment, which matters more here than on any other condition. Olympic Behavioral Health places each client after assessment, and average length of stay at the two intensive levels runs 30 to 45 days.
| Level of Care | Hours per Week | Schedule | Clinical Content | Admission Profile |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PHP, Partial Hospitalization | 30+ hours | Weekdays 9 AM to 3:30 PM, weekends 10 AM to 1 PM | Daily groups, individual sessions, psychiatric review, family therapy | Severe social anxiety, placed after clinical assessment |
| IOP, Intensive Outpatient | 9 to 12 hours | Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 12 PM | Morning groups, weekly individual therapy, medication management | Working, with the avoided list growing |
| OP, Outpatient Social Anxiety Counseling | 4 hours | One 3-hour group each week | Group work, coping skills, relapse prevention | Step-down, or a light first commitment |
Entry level is set at assessment, not by severity alone. For social anxiety disorder attendance is the variable that decides, because a group somebody sits through does more than a schedule nobody keeps. The level moves up once the room stops being the hard part.

Evidence-Based Therapies
Olympic Behavioral Health pairs cognitive work on the prediction a client makes before a social situation with graded exposure to that situation. Six therapies carry that pairing, and a clinician sets the order of social anxiety exposure with each client.
CBT for social anxiety works on the prediction made before a room and the verdict reached afterwards. Both err in the same direction, and CBT tests each against what actually happened.
Exposure therapy for social anxiety approaches situations in an order set with the primary therapist. Graded exposure work starts well below the hardest situation and builds from there.
The room is the exposure and the evidence at once, because everybody in it arrived with the same social anxiety.
Distress tolerance covers the minutes before walking in, which is where a social anxiety exposure gets abandoned.
Rumination after a social situation is treated as a target in its own right, because in social anxiety disorder it consumes more hours than the situation did.
Psychiatric medication management is provided in-house by a certified family nurse practitioner, with psychiatrist referrals available. Medication for social anxiety follows the psychiatric evaluation.
Olympic Behavioral Health names no social anxiety medication on this page, because prescribing follows the psychiatric evaluation.
Conditions Treated
Alcohol use, depression, panic, generalized anxiety and adult ADHD are treated alongside social anxiety disorder. Olympic Behavioral Health writes each one separately into a single social anxiety treatment plan.
Social anxiety and alcohol run together because drinking works, briefly and reliably, on exactly this fear. A DCF license covering both permits one plan.
Years of avoided invitations produce isolation, and isolation produces low mood. Treating the social anxiety without treating the depression leaves half the problem standing.
A panic attack in a social setting adds a second fear to the first, and for someone with social anxiety disorder the prospect of having one in public becomes its own reason to stay home.
Where the worry runs beyond social anxiety, Olympic Behavioral Health widens the plan to cover both rather than treating the rooms alone.
ADHD and social anxiety both produce avoidance, and each is mistaken for the other. Olympic Behavioral Health assesses, screens, and prescribes for adult ADHD from age 18 and names both diagnoses on one plan.
Olympic Behavioral Health treats social anxiety in adults only, so younger clients are referred to a service equipped for them.
Insurance and Cost
Social anxiety therapy bills as an outpatient behavioral health benefit, and Olympic Behavioral Health confirms the figure before admission rather than after it. TRICARE is in-network and every other plan runs on out-of-network PPO benefits.
Social anxiety insurance verification runs on the form rather than by phone, which is the easier route when the call itself is the problem. Olympic Behavioral Health accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, UMR, GEHA, Humana and Anthem on out-of-network PPO benefits.
INSURANCES WE ACCEPTTRICARE is the only in-network plan. Every other payer named is accepted on out-of-network PPO benefits for social anxiety therapy. Olympic Behavioral Health does not accept Medicaid or Medicare.
Free and confidential. Admissions hours at Olympic Behavioral Health are 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, and the form takes submissions outside them.

Secure and HIPAA compliant. No Medicaid or Medicare.
What Is Different Here
Olympic Behavioral Health puts the therapist first and the room second, because a person with social anxiety disorder will not walk voluntarily into a room of strangers to be treated for the fear of exactly that.
The first appointment is with your primary therapist, and the group that treats the social anxiety comes after that, not before.
First contact and insurance verification run in writing. The clinical assessment after them is by phone, so if the call itself is the barrier, say so in that first message and admissions will work with you.
The sequence is built with you beforehand, and nobody is volunteered without warning.
A certified family nurse practitioner prescribes for social anxiety on site, and referrals out to a psychiatrist are available.
One DCF license covers mental health and substance abuse, so social anxiety disorder and the drinking that made rooms possible sit on the same plan.
Outpatient social anxiety counseling is one 3-hour group a week, four hours in total. Partial hospitalization is more than thirty, and a client can enter at either.
Admissions
Olympic Behavioral Health does not require a phone call to start. For a person with social anxiety disorder the call is the first barrier, so the form carries first contact and insurance verification instead.
Say in the message that you would rather not be phoned, and Olympic Behavioral Health will reply in writing instead.
Insurance verification needs a card and a date of birth, nothing spoken. The check returns the payable amount at all three levels of social anxiety treatment.
The social anxiety assessment is conducted by phone and gathers background information. Expedited admissions complete the whole process in about 30 minutes.
A primary therapist and a case manager are assigned at intake, and the therapist is the first person you meet. The Olympic Behavioral Health clinical director approves each social anxiety admission.
No call required at any stage before the assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Seven questions about social anxiety treatment at Olympic Behavioral Health, covering group therapy, starting without a call, shyness, causes, duration, insurance and the Lantana address.
No. Listening is participation, and sitting through the first weeks without speaking is a normal way to begin social anxiety treatment. Being present while nothing bad happens is itself the exposure, and no facilitator at Olympic Behavioral Health will put you on the spot without agreeing it first.
Yes, as far as the clinical assessment. Submit the form and say you would rather not be phoned. Insurance verification needs only a card and a date of birth. Step three is a phone assessment for social anxiety, so tell admissions in that first message if calling is the barrier and they will work with you.
Shyness is a temperament and costs you little. Social anxiety disorder changes decisions, which is the practical dividing line. If it has cost you a job, a friendship or a course, the label matters less than the pattern. An assessment settles it properly.
Temperament, family history and early social experience all contribute, and no single cause explains social anxiety disorder. What keeps it running is better understood than what started it: avoidance prevents the fear from ever being disproved, which is why treatment targets the avoiding.
Average length of stay at the two intensive levels runs 30 to 45 days, with outpatient social anxiety counseling continuing afterwards. Change shows up first in what you are willing to attempt rather than in how the fear feels. No clinic can promise a timeline.
Commercial plans generally cover social anxiety therapy under the outpatient behavioral health benefit. TRICARE is the only in-network contract at the Lantana center, and every other payer runs on out-of-network PPO benefits. Medicaid and Medicare holders need a provider billing those directly.
Sessions run at 3618 Lantana Road, Suite 200, Lantana, FL 33462. Exit 61 on I-95 reaches the building, downtown West Palm Beach sits 12 miles north, and all three levels of social anxiety care run at this one Olympic Behavioral Health site.
