Olympic Behavioral Health's outpatient borderline personality disorder treatment center works from 3618 Lantana Road in Lantana, Florida, 12 miles south of West Palm Beach, and serves Palm Beach County.
Borderline personality disorder is emotional dysregulation, impulsivity and unstable relationships. Dialectical behavior therapy was developed for borderline personality disorder specifically, and DBT skills training is what this program is built around.
Our JCAHO-accredited, DCF-licensed specialized DBT programming treats adults aged 18 to 65 at PHP, IOP and OP. A BPD therapist and a psychiatric prescriber work the same plan from admission to discharge, and the diagnosis is treated here rather than referred elsewhere.

Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline personality disorder counseling at Olympic Behavioral Health combines structured DBT skills work, weekly individual therapy and psychiatric medication management. Treatment runs on an outpatient basis across the partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient levels of care.
Borderline personality disorder treatment at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels averages 30 to 45 days, and clients keep phone access and their daily freedoms throughout.
Borderline personality disorder responds to treatment. Zanarini and colleagues' 10-year follow-up of the McLean Study of Adult Development, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, found 93 percent of participants reached a symptom remission lasting at least two years.
Stigma keeps people out of treatment longer than symptoms do. Tap any card to see what the evidence actually says.

Admission Criteria
Olympic Behavioral Health admits adults aged 18 to 65 into the BPD outpatient program after a phone assessment and clinical review. Clients with a history of self-harm are accepted. Active self-harm requires a higher level of care than outpatient treatment provides.
Olympic Behavioral Health accepts adults into BPD treatment who meet five criteria:

How Treatment Works
Olympic Behavioral Health treats borderline personality disorder with specialized DBT programming. Skills groups cover four modules: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness, with psychiatric medication management running alongside them.
Borderline personality disorder treatment at Olympic Behavioral Health rests on three fixed components:
Levels of Care
Partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient are the three levels that carry borderline personality disorder treatment, and the DBT skills curriculum is identical in all three. The same clinical team follows each client down the continuum as hours reduce.
| Level of Care | Hours / Week | Schedule | BPD Components | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PHP, Partial Hospitalization | 30+ hours | Seven days. Weekdays 9 AM to 3:30 PM, weekends 10 AM to 1 PM | Daily DBT skills groups, psychiatry, individual and family therapy | Frequent crises and unstable daily functioning |
| IOP, Intensive Outpatient | 9 to 12 hours | Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 12 PM | DBT skills groups, individual therapy, medication management | Skills taking hold, work or study resuming |
| OP, Outpatient | 4 hours | Once weekly, 3-hour group | Weekly group and long-term skills reinforcement | Maintenance after IOP, psychiatry continuing |
Substance use is treated first when both are active. Where a substance use disorder sits alongside borderline personality disorder, Olympic Behavioral Health coordinates placement with licensed detox partners and admits the client into PHP or IOP once detox is complete.

Treatment Methods
CBT, EMDR, neurofeedback, family therapy, art therapy and group therapy are the six modalities of BPD therapy that run alongside DBT skills training at Olympic Behavioral Health. Each one works a different layer underneath borderline personality disorder: the trauma, the thought patterns, or the family dynamics.
CBT targets the black-and-white thinking in borderline personality disorder and the beliefs that drive sudden shifts in how a relationship is judged.
EMDR and Rapid Trauma Resolution process the early trauma carried into borderline personality disorder treatment.
Neurofeedback trains the arousal response under BPD emotional dysregulation, and it runs alongside DBT skills training rather than replacing the skills work.
Weekly family therapy plus a Monday family meeting, where relatives learn what helps when borderline personality disorder symptoms escalate.
Art therapy gives BPD clients a way to express states that are difficult to put into words during dysregulation.
Includes a standing group on personality and attachment styles, examining the patterns that shape relationships.
Clients also receive motivational interviewing, mindfulness training, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming within BPD treatment.
Conditions Treated
Substance use disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder are the four diagnoses treated on the same plan as borderline personality disorder at Olympic Behavioral Health, rather than one after another.
Alcohol and drugs start as a way to shut down feeling that arrives too fast in BPD. The relief is real, and brief.
Low mood and anxiety in BPD move in hours, not weeks. Medication alone does not settle mood that shifts on that timescale, so psychiatry and DBT skills work run together.
The trauma came first and borderline personality disorder symptoms grew around the trauma. Treating BPD without treating the trauma is why progress stalls.
Impulsivity belongs to bipolar disorder and to BPD, but BPD shifts without the elevated mood of mania. Separating the two changes the treatment plan.
Olympic Behavioral Health is dually licensed, so borderline personality disorder, substance use and a mood or trauma diagnosis sit on one treatment plan. Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and schizophreniform disorder are accepted when stabilized. Active self-harm goes to a higher level of care, and an active eating disorder is referred out.
Insurance
Outpatient behavioral health benefits are what pay for BPD treatment at Olympic Behavioral Health. TRICARE is in-network, and every other PPO plan is used through out-of-network benefits. Every benefit check is free and carries no obligation.
TRICARE covers active-duty military, veterans, and their families. Olympic Behavioral Health also works with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, UMR, GEHA, Humana, and Anthem as out-of-network PPO benefits. What a plan pays depends on the level of care and the deductible, so the Olympic Behavioral Health admissions team confirms the number in writing before treatment begins.
INSURANCES WE ACCEPTTRICARE is the only in-network plan. Every other payer named is accepted using out-of-network PPO benefits for BPD treatment. Olympic Behavioral Health does not accept Medicaid or Medicare.
A BPD benefits check takes minutes.

TRICARE benefits for borderline personality disorder treatment are verified directly with the contractor.
